Alice passed away in a heavily sedated sleep, without pain. She did not believe in any god or an afterlife but when I quoted Khalil Gibran in one of my last conversations with her, it brought her momentary comfort. It comforts me to have shared that quote with her, when my own words failed.
Oh heart, if one should say to you that the soul perishes like the body, answer that the flower withers, but the seed remains.
~Kahlil Gibran

Love the quote - The Spirit (seed) lives on.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful tribute to your friend.
That is a beautiful quote. My condolences to all who will feel her loss.
ReplyDeleteThere are sayings that feel right because they are true and that one is a beauty.
ReplyDeleteMay I share one I love with you? It was written by Rabindrath Tagore:
Death is not extinguishing the light; it is putting out the lamp because the dawn has come.
it's a lovely qoute. peace, sherry
ReplyDeleteI was sad to hear this, though we knew it was coming. As was true in my Dad's case, the end of the suffering is a blessing when regaining wellness isn't an option.
ReplyDeleteMy condolences to you all.
I am holding you and your family in the light and hope for peace for you all.
ReplyDeleteThinking of you and wishing all of you safe passage through this time..
ReplyDeleteMy heart is with you and yours; those left behind.
ReplyDelete"And when the earth shall claim your
limbs, then shall you truly dance. "
A wonderful quote, full of hope.
ReplyDeleteThe seeds are scattered in every person's heart, every one who loves Alice.
Now, take care of that seed, makes it live and grow in your memory.
