Loving Day

My friend The Cunning Runt at Little Bang Theory has written a beautiful post about marriage equality and the current fight in California to keep it legal. Please go there and check it out. He's an inspiring writer and I promise you will not regret it.

There is a ballot initiative that has been approved to appear on the state ballot in California which will seek to overthrow the recently gained right of GLBT people to marry. The $10 million campaign will attempt to poison the well, so money is needed.

If you support marriage equality but don't live in California, you may wonder what this has to with you. Every state that fights for and wins marriage equality gains momentum for other states to take action to do the same.

There are many great organizations working on behalf of GLBT rights but to have your contribution go directly to California where the big fight is right now, consider donating directly to Equality California.

The Peace Tree

My post, Mad Pride Part III is up at The Peace Tree.

I'd like to leave you with a song called To Live Is To Fly written by the late, great Townes Van Zant. It's recorded by Guy Clark on Poet: A Tribute to Townes Van Zant.

This one goes out to my friend singingbear, with peace, love and many prayers.

Picasso: Ceramics And Linoleum Cuts 1950s

There was a Picasso period in the 1950's and early 1960's when he created and painted ceramics and linoleum cuts . I love these artworks and I wanted to share them with you.

Large, high resolution images of Picasso's ceramics and linoleum cuts are hard to come by on the internet. These actually look better than I expected.

Enjoy!

What Do You Recommend....

for summer reading? My favorite type of reading is literary fiction, contemporary poetry and an occasional biography. I'm open to suggestions you, my friends, may have, based on what you know about me via the blog!

Just, please nothing of this genre of "woman's book". This one really made me roll my eyes. I feel like telling Ms. Van Meter that I've successfully been wearing mine since I was two (according to my mother).

I doubt you'll want to get your credit cards ready but you could always indulge me and click on the linked photo.

Summertime

It's sizzling. 90 degrees in the shade. Literally. W.P., Supergirl Two and I are gonna head out to go fishin' and swimmin'. Nothin' else can be done on a day like today. Summer has arrived.

My perfect summer song is Summertime by Janis Joplin. I have a brother who is five years older than I, so I grew up with a lot of rock and roll that was "before my time", so to speak. I remember thinking what passion Janis had and that there was a sadness there that fueled it but instead of making me sad, it made me want to live, love and above all else, feel. Those feelings have remained with me throughout my life. For this and so much more, I am grateful.

Namaste.
