I've always been just passingly interested in her music, but I have to say, this has me swallowing hard to choke back the tears - whatever the hell she was singing about, she obviously felt it very deeply, and her passion overtook me kike a fast train on a lonely stretch of track.
ReplyDeleteIt also revealed her to me as the root of a kind of song writing which has grown to include many beautiful blossoms.
I haven't been very interested in singer songwriters these past few decades but Ricky Lee Jones will always be one of the few favorites.
ReplyDeleteVery nice song choice :-)
Love her. (And that was even before checking out her lo-o-ong legs in the top shot.) BTW, if you go to the Atheneum this weekend, you will miss the opening of a Monet water lilies exhibit by one week. Might want to go elsewhere this weekend and Wadsworth next.
ReplyDeleteLooks like fun on the sofa then, lol.
ReplyDeleteCR - I'm not a huge fan but I do lvoe this song
ReplyDeleteSusan - glad you enjoyed it!
Jack - thanks for the tip on The Atheneum! Glad you like RLJ.
Stewart - why not? ;-)
P.S. to Jack - the reason I can't leave comments on your blog is because I have off and on problems with blogs that use the embedded comments box. On the other hand, there are those who have trouble with the pop-up feature. I do read Hartford Daily. I wanted you to know that if you're following comments here.
ReplyDeleteI encourage you all to check out Ricky Lee's "Pirates". Listen to the songs but also read the lyrics. She is quite a poet.
