Not too long ago, I featured the work of Louise Bourgeois in one of my Artist of the Week posts. A few weeks ago, this dynamic, energetic and fascinatingly creative woman died at the ripe age of 98 last May. She continued to work until the day she died, and was, in fact, in the process of setting up an exhibition at the Magazzino del Sale in Venice at the time of her passing.
A photo of a sculpture series I photographed at the Williams College Museum of Art in Williamstown, Massachusetts:

What a wonderful person she must have been.
ReplyDeleteWe have a friend who is 99 this month ans still lives alone and does all her own shopping by bus.
I was saddened by this news on NPR, though I was only vaguely aware of her work.
ReplyDeleteAre those pieces on the lawn at the Williams College museum hers, or is there some other relevance? I always liked them, not the least for their ambiguously suggestive sexuality.
Thanks for keeping the world of art intertwined with mine.
a legend!

ReplyDeleteI love her work
what a full and creative life
She contributed so much to the betterment of the world. That itself is sadly rare.
