The Peace Tree

My post How Many Christians Does it Take to Conquer the World? (about the Quiverfull Movement) is up at The Peace Tree.

  1. I haven't had a chance to read the article in The Nation yet, but your quotes are enough. My first instinct is anger. But the older I get, the less angry and the more sad I become. How people who claim to believe every word in the Bible, can - instead of using their own brains - just accept whatever their pastors feed them... I just don't understand it. Otherwise intelligent people - well some of them must be - follow like sheep and don't think at all. I guess it's easier for them. And they can do so much harm to others.

  2. Real Christians don't need weapons. What nonsense does it say in that article. Birth control is needed and especially in Africa and other poverty stricken areas. I am sorry but I don't like fundamentalists. Thanks for your promise concerning Earth Hour!

  5. We have to call them out. I wish no one harm. I harbor no ill will. I just want for my fellow citizens of whatever stripe, to be treated fairly; with justice. It says right in the Pledge "with liberty and justice for ALL". I'm being my version of what it is to be an American. A naturalized one, albeit.

I've lived here since 1967. I am an American. Almost embarrassingly through and through.

Thanks to you all for leaving a comment.

Debra: welcome! I really glad you came by. The Peace Tree has so much good writing on it. Mentarch, betmo, Robert (whose blog I have neglected to link here. and I must do that)

Daryl: that is such a nice thing to say. I have admit to getting warm and fuzzies. And you said you're a...mean girl??? ;-)

I love your NYC blog. It's really worth visiting as often as possible.

Reader Will: I'm not too overly thrilled with them either, obviously. I have a beloved daughter who is gay. What kind of a human being, nevermind mother, would I be if I didn't take up this voice on her behalf and for all of our brothers and sisters. Sometimes I worry about being too sappy, but there you go. That is how I feel.
