Meaningless Meme

Ed tagged me for the Meaningless Meme and I, being unable to say no to such easy frivolity, am playing along.

1. Five names you go by:
* Gina
* Mommy
* Baby (at least it's not "Babe". which always reminds me of the pig)
* Mrs. P (which is not accurate but people always assume we're married)
* Pagan Sphinx (you know, in the blog world)

2. Three things you are wearing right now:
* earrings (always)
* an Indian print scarf
* purple tights

3. Two things you want very badly at the moment:

* a vacation
* a new work environment

4. Three people who will probably fill this out:

* Sherry
* Steve (because I'm curious as to what movie clip he'll choose)
* You!

5. Two things you did last night:

* Watched the movie Zodiac with WP
* Ordered a pizza

6. Two things you ate today:

* toast with butter
* black coffee

7. Two people you last talked to on the phone:

* SG2
* one known as a "busybody" - don't ask :-/

8. Two things you are going to do tomorrow:

* go to work
* pay bills

9. Two longest car rides:

* Paris to Lisbon (as a wee lass)
* Cape Breton, Nova Scotia

10. Two of your favorite beverages:

* sparkling spring water

And finally, my favorite part: a clip from a favorite movie, Breaking the Waves with the incomparable Emily Watson as Bess McNeil, and a stellar soundtrack.

  2. Cape Breton ... what a LOVELY place!
    Just came to say hi!

  3. DCup: It was easy and fun.

    Cape Breton is so, so beautiful, Naj. But I forgot to type that we started from Western Mass and it took about three days. But we took it easy along the way. I have a link to photos on my sidebar, if you're interested in looking at them. We visited there this past summer.

    Thanks for stopping by. I've been procrastinating all morning and early afternoon, the housework that must get done over the weekend. Ugh.

  4. I hope Ed gets this comment: I think that he and I should combine our articles of clothing and Ed can model them! I think seahorse print boxers and purple tights would work very well together. And don't forget the bass!! ;-)

  5. As DCup said, it's fun to see all the interesting tidbits about people this meme provides. Your response to the "longest car ride" reminded me that I had driven from Madison, WI to the Bay of Fundy, New Brunswick, Canada and neglected to include it on the meme. That was a long drive. Also, it struck me that, based on the clip you posted, this film has some Herzog-like qualities. Herzog always seems to like long scenes where the camera stays on shots of clouds, fog, mist, smoke, running water and things of that type, with an ethereal sort of soundtrack, yet you indicated that you're not particularly fond of Herzog's films. Curious. It must be something else about them that you don't care for.

    Sea horse print boxers (blue background with orange sea horses) over purple tights, eh? That would be, ummm... interesting, to say the least. I suppose my green bass would be the one to go with that outfit (the alternatives would be black or sunburst). Can I wear my moose hat? ;)

  6. Ed: I'm guessing the emotional content is different? I like indie films with dramatic titles like that. (drama in a fictionalized sense helps me to prevent drama in the real sense...something I came to realize recently) The Sea Inside is another recent film I really liked. A Spanish film starring Xavier Barden who played the psycho killer in No Country for Old Men. Based on a true story. I highly recommend it. It's not a tear-jerker, just a very dignified look at long-term disability and right to die issues.

    It's curious also that WP, who is a Herzog fan, snored through much of Breaking The Waves.

  7. Ed: Yes, please. I don't recall but I'm assuming your moose hat is really warm, since you live in Wisconsin. I could have used such a hat today. It was bitterly cold outside today. We went for a walk around our local reservoir where Lake Pleasant is located (it's the site of a former religious community) and across the road, Green Pond, where WP once rented the caretaker's cottage where he lived with his late wife, two daughters and a dog named Bessi, who was always getting into a butt-load of trouble, from the tales I've heard. The pond is iced over pretty well. You can see the dry leaves trapped under the ice. Brrrrrrrr. I don't like cold. {{{{{{{{{{{{{{}}}}}}}}}}}

  8. That was fun. Many memes(?) seem, to me, to be a drag, but this one was simplistic which edged it toward something... beautiful.

  10. 1. Five names you go by:

    * JC (since 2005 IRL, online longer)
    * Judy (pre-2005 IRL: natch, this is what MOST people call me {Grrr}, though some have made the change
    * AlciBIades (My handle in "the Xenaverse". Xena: Warrior Princess is still the Greatest TV Program EVER!)
    * Gatito Grande, or "GG". Handle from another (longstanding) board. Don't ask.

    2. Three things you are wearing right now:

    * Blue jeans (if I'm awake, then 9 times out of 10 ;-) )

    * A gray and blue fleece vest (a thrift store score I love a lot)

    * A pair of Phat Farm leather sneakers (from a rummage sale. The soles are totally trashed, but the leather is still comfy. Mainly worn around the house now)

    3. Two things you want very badly at the moment:

    Too easy:

    1) A partner (of the romantic sort)
    2) A paycheck

    Head: "Not in that order"
    Heart: "In that order!"

    Optional #3: a puppy! (Those are my "3 Ps")

    4. Three people who will probably fill this out:

    1) Grandmere Mimi (do you know her, Gina?)
    2) FranIAm
    3) Another PS regular (maybe like me, without a blog at present)

    5. Two things you did last night:

    1) Watched Dr. Who (w/ my beautiful Freema Agyemann. Drool---THUD!)

    2) Put up some Xmas stuff: wreathe, stockings, candle holders

    6. Two things you ate today:

    1) Turkey (which I just cooked: NOT T-day leftovers!)

    2) Bagels (for my first meal of the day, they're almost as universal as me wearing blue jeans! ;-/)

    7. Two people you last talked to on the phone:

    1) My father
    2) My close friend SK, here in my Podunktown

    8. Two things you are going to do tomorrow:

    1) Call a woman in HR w/ an employer I'd like to work for (and have been frustrated in so doing, for over a year now---countless applications), to set up an interview while I'm visiting that state for the holidays

    2) Anything I do after #1 is gravy!

    9. Two longest car rides:

    1) Across the country and back, when I was 13 (over 6 weeks. Starting and ending in Sacramento, California, and going from Virginia to New Hampshire on the E Coast)

    2) After I got married: my then spouse and I went from Sacramento (again!) to Portland, Oregon (got my stuff out of storage). Across the country to Schenectady, New York (packed up his apartment). And then to Central Pennsylvania, where he began his new job (while I worked on my doctorate). Ah, those long ago newlywed daze...

    10. Two of your favorite beverages:

    1) Coffee (With creamer and Splenda, and have you got a problem w/ that??? {glowers})

    2) Single Malt Whiskey: the older (aged), the better!

    And finally, my favorite part: a clip from a favorite movie,

    Because I was reminded of this recently. [Disclaimer: is Not Safe for Work! You have been warned! :-0]

    Bound: the Hands-On Art of SEDUCTION!

    Thanks, Gina: I had fun playin'! :-)

  11. Hey, j! I'm glad you played along. I tried to access your clip but I can't for the life of me sign in to youtube. I used the title for a search but came up with nothing. :-/ will try again.

    I know Mimi only a little bit through Fran's and OCICBW. She is very groovy, from what I can tell! :-) And I would love to see her favorite movie clip!

  12. Look up "Bound love scene (1/2)" [there's a "Age-Confirm" button you have to push: that may be what's holding you up. The movie was rated "R", and the only skin is a half-bared breast: it's not THAT explicit! More what's going on, um, undercover ;-/]

    Yes, Mimi is EXTREMELY groovy---even HuffPo said so! ;-p

    ReplyDelete
  13. I read that article in Huffington Post! That was really cool. I just love the blogs!

    I'm in a bit of a daze today. Sick with some crap I got from the school kids and a bit doped up on cold medicine. I'd better wait on that R-rated clip so I don't fall out of my chair or anything ;-)
