One of modern art's lions shows us that sexual moments and nudity aren't necessarily erotic. Read Salon by clicking on the link.

  2. This is a wide spread of styles! I love the Klimt - somehow more sensuous (and less sexual) than usual for him. His almost jittery, exploratory line always seems so tentative that I recognize it almost immediately.

The Girard is such an involved piece. I love some of these Academe pieces - though I can also see what the Impressionists were rebelling against...

as always, steve adds so much to these posts and makes me feel like a total idiot! :) but that's OK...

  4. I liked the gallery of Balthus' work - especially the woman at the piano - that is stunning

I'm smiling at Linda's comment - remember when I told you I didn't comment here at first because everyone seemed so much smarter than me

ahhhh - the things we make ourselves believe ;)

  5. Yes, the Klimt is very nice and in its own way much less formal than his most famous pieces. I always liked the decorative quality of the Orientalists and this one is a great example. It was like they were dreaming a world that had time and leisure to spare.
