Nymphs And Satyr

  1. Those are wonderful. Tonight we attended a performance at the Dancer's school. Each dance was influenced by a painting. One of the most beautiful performances was based on a painting of Greek Statuary. These paintings remind me of that.

  2. Greetings--I'm visiting here as per Winston's suggestion.

Not that I know much about painting, but I've always admired the light in Bouguereau's paintings. No one I know gets full-sun to look like that on bodies.

  3. Whenever I look at the Bouguereau Nymphs and Satyr, I always wonder what the satyr did to get the nymphs all worked up like that! :-)
This painting happens to be part of the permanent collection at the Clark, in the Massachusetts Berkshires. It's so stunning up close and personal! I chose it for the title bar of my blog because it was one of my daughter's (SG1) favorites in her early childhood.

Thanks for enjoying this slice of beauty with me.

  4. It's at the Clark? Sweet! We did an early bus trip from Hartford some years ago, as to Tanglewood, etc. I remember a catered Lunch in the Shade outside the Museum under tents, but I don't remember these being out. I no longer have friends to visit in Williamstown, which is a shame, for there are fun things to enjoy there.

  5. johnieb - you've just somehow reminded me of why SG1 liked Nymphs and Satyr so much. I remembered just as I was reading your comment.

When I asked 5 year-old SG1 why she liked said painting, she replied "I like the ladies". And ya know, she still does! She herself is quite a
lady. The other day she was sporting 3" purple heels. How she can walk in those flippin' things is beyond my physical reality.

Regarding the Clark. I bop over there a couple of times during the summer, usually. Well, not last year. Last summer was outer-limits kind of nuts!

Perhaps one day you can join us. At least one of my daughters would tag along, so you'd have to like college age adults!

Thank you for your comments. I love long responses. :-)

  6. Oh Lawd! I'm only fishing for excuses to go back that way, the Clark and the Pownal Pie Festival in Vermont Columbus day Weekend. One, all, or both--toi khong can gi het--I can't remember much about the SG 2.0 unit with the justice flap thingie you've been doing, which I'm deeply for, BTW, as far as such things interest me.

Oh yah; I hadda give oop the 3" purple heels years ago: the arthritis, doncha know? Coulda been C & W, coulda been Texas Funk, but it needs more, eh?
