Blog Note

My back is still in spasm mode and I am into my third day off from work. I actually left school around noon on Thursday. Three and a half days out of work! I never do that. I think that tomorrow I will try to go to work, see the physical therapist, try to beat down the door of my favorite but very busy neuromuscular massage therapist whom my insurance company won't cover. I think tomorrow is the day I start trying to live among the living again. The lack of comfortable mobility is driving me crazy.

I'm having trouble concentrating on reading anything longer than article length. If you have any entertaining or informative links to share, please leave them in comments or email me at pagansphinx@gmail.com. Anything humorous? Bring it on.

I love this series Suzanne Vega has where she discusses what her songs are about and what they meant her when she wrote them.  Below is one for the song Men in a War.  I hope you can view it where you are and if not, I'm sorry! One day I will invest in a real blogspot jukebox. For now my Baby Dinosaur laptop used as a desktop computer, will have to do.

I really hope you're having a wonderful day. Sending love,
Pagan Sphinx

P.S. There are probably errors left and right in this post. Sorry, but it's time for me to sit up and hobble around the house for a while.  :-D

  1. You don't know how marvellous unthinking painless mobility is until you don't have it.

After nearly two months, I have it once more. But I can really feel with you, Gina, having just been there! And therefore, this evening, above all, I wish you looseness!

Suzanne's music got by the corporate gremlins this time. She's great - as always. Thanks!

  3. Francis - two months??? Oh, dear. :-/ The word "loose" has taken on a whole new meaning with this back injury! :-)

Yogi - thank you! You are very kind.

  4. I'm SO sorry to hear about your back - that's one injury that's really hard to work around. And it stinks that insurance companies don't want to pay for the really effective treatment for such a serious problem!

Get better, Grrrl. You don't deserve this.

  5. Oooh, that is nasty. Sorry, Gina. I am usually very healthy but have had a very mild neck pain for a couple of days. With something multiples of times more severe, you must be pretty unhappy. And this after last week's "emotional flue!"

  8. CR - yes, it's frustrating because PT, which insurance will pay for, doesn't do much me. But I think I'm going to schedule something with Rob.

Jack - the emotional flu is nothing now that I have to contend with this back injury!

Thank you everyone for the good words! Much appreciated. I'm going to work today, even if it's for a half day.

  9. I'm sorry to hear you're still hurting and hope you recover quickly after the therapy you must pay for. Such a shameful situation that is.

Anyway, in accordance with your request for stimulating entertainment I hope this one helps. The TED talks are always a treat.

Sending you love and good wishes.

  10. I'm sorry to hear this. I hope you are feeling better soon. When I was laid up with my ruptured tendon two years ago I couldn't concentrate on anything more taxing that old episodes of Andromeda... Sad isn't it!

  11. Susan - aah, dear Susan. Thank you. I return the love.

Jams - isn't it a pity? Thanks for commiserating - it kinda helps, you know.. :-D

I'm trying to see if I can make it through two full work days. Our school "family" is quite nurturing when comes to this sort of thing. I don't have to worry about being out if I really need to be. Thank goodness.

  13. Hi, Becky. I've tried to grin and bear it, for the most part. But I have to admit that I like this pity party a little bit. ;-) And you're welcome for Suzanne, she who is so underrated...

  14. I've been missing for over a week... So I've missed this note about your troubles! So awful! Mine aren't nearly as bad as it sounds like yours is, but I have an inkling. I hope it is better soon!

    Love, S

  15. Steve - thank you.

After a week, I finally felt better on Thursday, at which point I thought a massage would be a good idea. As soon as I got into my car after the massage, I turned my body slightly to close the car door and...
hellicious pain! Back to the drawing board, I'm afraid. :-(

  16. Please take care, Gina. Sorry it's taken me some time to see this...still in a little turmoil myself. Hope to be back soon.

    Peace and love.
