Another beautiful and extraordinary artist. They don't make them like her anymore.
ReplyDeleteA classic! Unfortunately - as so often - damn copyright issues mean I can't access this version from Germany :-(
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely - I really like her early work much more than her later stuff, primarily because I prefer the club-combo sound to the more heavily produced big band fare. The smaller groups both contributed the virtuosity of her compatriots and gave her room to play, which was her real forte.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the [now Sunday morning] smile.
Brilliant post! Fantastic music ... and oh, that voice!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing her with us.
Thank you all for enjoying the music with me. :-)
ReplyDeleteFrancis - oh, I hate that. This is my only easy and free means to bringing music to my blog, unfortunately.
CR - ditto on Billie's early work.
Aguja - I love your enthusiasm! sending a hug
ahhh, Spinx, this is Summer Kitche Music...excellent!
ReplyDeleteoh thanks for this. don't know how I missed it on Friday but it's great atmosphere too for a Monday morning. I only wish her life wouldn't have been so tragic. you always set the perfect mood here at the Pagan Sphinx Lounge...
ReplyDeleteSummer Kitchen - I can really see Billie Holiday going over well in the summer kitchen. Thanks for the lovely visit.
ReplyDeleteBecky - The Pagan Sphinx Lounge - I like it!! I may just have to use that as a title for a feature. Thank you, Becky!
