Picture for One Moment

This is one of the photos I sneaked at The Whitney, where there is a no photograph rule.

George Segal (1924–2000), Walk, Don’t Walk, 1976. Plaster, cement, metal, painted wood, and electric light, 109 × 72 × 74 inches (276.9 × 182.9 × 188.9 cm) overall. Whitney Museum of American Art, New York

  1. I wonder if they can bust you for taking the photo now that they know you did it? LOL

When we were in Florence, everyone was taking photos of the statue of David, although there were signs up everywhere saying no photos allowed. I was good (scared to); I bought a postcard of it.

  2. There's a certain gratifying feeling when you get a shot from somewhere you should'nt, very neat.

  3. I love stuff like this, I've always wanted to buy a warehouse for our home so we can display huge pieces like this. If I wasn't trying to pare down to essentials, I'd be collecting stuff like this already.

    Thanks for breaking the rules!

  4. Kenju - I hadn't thought about getting busted *after* the fact! Oh, dear.

mac - yeah, what a rush! This as exciting as I get! ;-)

Elliot*t* - how about purchasing an old factory and turning it into an art space? We have one in town and I always think how fun it would be to spearhead a project like that!

  5. There are plenty of abandoned spaces in Cleveland. We've actually looked at a few, they're great locations. Perhaps once someone finally buys my other house, we'll consider it.
