ABC Wednesday

This week's letter is Kk

K is for Klimt's The Kiss
(1907-1908)

(1862-1918)

"I have the gift of neither the spoken nor the written word, especially if I have to say something about myself or my work. Whoever wants to know something about me -as an artist, the only notable thing- ought to look carefully at my pictures and try and see in them what I am and what I want to do."

Gustav Klimt

  1. The colors are simply luscious in his painting. He really succeeds in capturing the essence of the Art Nouveau style.

  2. This is my favourite Klimt's painting! There is another one in blue shades I find gorgeous, saw it in Prague but can't remember the name now...

By the way, Marechal António Carmona was the 11th President of the Portuguese Republic.

The link you mentioned is not working...

  3. Nobody ever paints about a book so why should an artist write about his painting? Makes sense to me.

  4. Divine, divine, divine...
Emotion, vibration, Klimt nous a tant offert et il émerveille toujours notre regard...
    Sublime. Amazing !
