National Poetry Month - Emily Dickinson

Pagan Sphinx Photo

WILL there really be a morning?
Is there such a thing as day?
Could I see it from the mountains
If I were as tall as they?

Has it feet like water-lilies?        5
Has it feathers like a bird?
Is it brought from famous countries
Of which I have never heard?

Oh, some scholar! Oh, some sailor!
Oh, some wise man from the skies!        10
Please to tell a little pilgrim
Where the place called morning lies!

Thanks, Everyone.

Bobbie: I'm glad you liked my photo. It was early in the hills when I took it, so I thought the poem fit perfectly.

SB: oh, that's okay. I had a lot of help from Mother Earth herself - she is the real artist.

Mona Lisa Smiles

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands - The mysterious half-smile that has intrigued viewers of the Mona Lisa for centuries isn’t really that difficult to interpret, Dutch researchers said Thursday. She was smiling because she was happy — 83 percent happy, to be exact, according to scientists from the University of Amsterdam.

Emily Dickinson - The Belle of Amherst
"When the Amherst sphinx styled herself a pagan, she meant she didn’t believe in the biblical God. What sort of deity, if any, she did believe in is hard to pinpoint."
