    He had to be a lawyer.
    Having worked for a municipality, I know many, many lawyers. Far too many of them do look much like this man. Inside.

    I was fascinated by this though I couldn't understand a hoot about its meaning when I looked up information on this image. I do know that this was a portrait of an actual legal scholar of the day; as most of this painter's portraits were; all similarly anthropomorphic and bizarre!

    I see lawyers haven't changed much at all. Maybe they should hang a copy of it at the Supreme Court.
