I love the Wyeth. And all the rest. Wonderful.
ReplyDeleteOh the Wyeth! That is one of my favorites of his. The loving way he painted all that fringe... It makes the whole painting more tactile, and somehow makes me able to feel, hear, and smell the sweet little dog. The warmth of it - the wet nose.
ReplyDeleteAll because of the fringe...
what a kennel of masterpieces!

The Wyeth is beyond words beautiful.
ReplyDeleteBut the Reynolds has an immediacy and warmth, with the little girl's love juxtaposed with the helpless dog's "WTF???"
Yes. The Master's Bedroom has some great shadow and light. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAlso the Musatov's Boy with a Dog is spectacular.
Thank you for being my museum of fine art. It is always a pleasure to come for a visit.
All very nice, but my fav is the German - English - by Lucian Freud.
ReplyDeleteI never saw that Wyeth before - it is marvelous!! All are nice, though.
ReplyDeleteI love the Hockney and the Wyeth
ReplyDeleteThanks, all. That Wyeth blows me away, too.
ReplyDeleteAnd Steve, the depth of your perceptions of art never cease to amaze me.
All the love,
Pagan Sphinx
i can appreciate the love folks have for their dogs. i have it for the cats :) i am not a big dog lover but understand the appeal. and art transcends anyway ;)
ReplyDeleteI just LOVE Wyeth's, Sphinx! Thanks for sharing and visiting me! :)
ReplyDeletejust wonderful! thanks.
ReplyDeleteBetmo, darlin' - I'm not much of a dog person, either, truthfully. Cunning Runt and girls and I had a dog for eight years. He was our foster child. The poor thing was very needy. We did our best to be his friends. But now I admire dogs all the time. I just don't know for sure if I want one. Then again, I do love cats, too. But we have one of my girls and one of WP's with cat allergies. And then there WP who loves his birds, he just can't accept them getting killed by SOMEONE'S vain pet. Sigh. He just doesn't understand cats...
ReplyDeleteCloudia - I'm very happy you come here now. :-)
ReplyDeleteMary _ you are responsible for some very wonderful photo inspiration: Ruby Tuesday and Window Views, both. A couple of my favorite themes. Thanks, Luv!The point and shoot for me is therapy, it's therapy, I say! :-D Cheaper and more effective than most pro therapists I've paid for!
Someone mentioned liked Lucien Freud's painting. I love that one, am really interested in the other work. Yes, he is the grandson of Sigmund Freud (gasp!) I'm name dropping! ;-)
ReplyDeleteAnd why I just thought of Oscar Wilde in the same breath as Sigmund and Lucien, I'm not sure...
