A Trip to the Drive-In

Be sure to click on images for a better viewing size

Just over the line from the Massachusetts town of Northfield, is the small town of Hindsdale, New Hampshire, the home of one of the oldest drive-in cinemas in the region.

How were the movies, you ask? Welllllllll...they were nothing compared to the weather performance we were treated to!

This dramatic sunset; and, facing northeast...

a tempestuous sky leading up to a long summer thunder storm, making the viewing of the Transformers movie virtually impossible. What a shame! ;-)

Let's just say we go for the cinematic experience, as the films are rarely top notch. We were given a little tour of the projection house and learned first-hand some of the mechanics of projecting analog film and sound onto the large outdoor screen. I'll have to take photos in the projection room next time and possibly interview the projectionist and his assistant.

  6. Drive-ins used to be so much fun they eventually had to do away with them. One night when the fog rolled in during the climax of an action adventure there was much howling and complaint and do you remember trying to find the car you got out of after making a trip for snacks? Thanks for the reminder.

  7. Something we've never had over here. I supposed the weather isn't good enough - but it would seem that the rain comes down in buckets with you too! Maybe someone should start a drive-in in Wales after all. Great pics.

  9. Hi, everyone
As of this minute, I'm having a problem accessing all my blogs. Interestingly, I end up viewing the dashboard of Deadly Women Write! It's the woman writer's blog with Utah Savage, Lisa and Dusty, among others. Very curious, the ways of blogger.

At any rate, if I'm not able to get into it, I hope you get this message. We're leaving for Barcelona and then Liston. Will be back at the end of the month. I will touch base with you, then. Meanwhile...

Love and peace and all good thing,
    Gina
