Maine and D.C. Move Forward & More

Maine Statehouse Votes in Favor of Marriage for Same-Sex Couples

Washington D.C. Recognizes Same-Sex Marriage

This article at the Gay Rights blog @ change. org

Here is Ms. Vienna Teng with City Hall. I wish she would write a song about Massachusetts but that's okay. My daughter was married at this city hall, so I love the song.

And if you never read the post here on this painting...

it was painted by my dear friend Steve Emery, whose inspiration for it were my daughter and daughter-in-law's wedding photographs at taken at San Francisco City Hall last Fall. Every time I try to write about how much this painting means to my family and me, I get a bit chocked up and completely lose the words. But I think you know. Visit Steve's gallery. It is a very uplifting space.

  4. What a beautiful painting! (And what beautiful subjects he had to inspire him!)

I remember seeing your daughter's wedding pics here, and frankly they are the most beautiful wedding photos I've ever seen. Not only does their love shine through each photo, but the photographer had such an eye and artistry that he or she created a work of art for your daughter and daughter-in-law to treasure forever. Truly a gift.

  14. Hey, everyone. As always, I can't thank you enough for supporting marriage equality. The reason I highlight my daughter's marriage so much is because I like adding a "face" to the politics. For me, it's always been an issue that I've supported but having it touch my family allows me to have a more holistic perspective.

    Looks NH may be next...hurray!

  16. Your girls are one of the most inspiring couples I know. And the march of equality, state by state, is wonderful to see.

I'm reminded of a post by another artist, half of a couple in the same legal position as your girls, who created a continuing reduction print of her married status... As the states change, she will carve and print another block... See it here.

  18. Steve: I read the post. On SG1/Beloved's behalf, We can relate!
That blog post is from 2008. I hope she posts about her woodblock once in a while; cuz there is two new states that have to be carved out! And perhaps the artist is very busy doing just that! :-) Thanks for the link, Steve. All the love.

Soul: congratulations to your niece and her partner! ((hugs))

Sunnymama with the sunny boy: Thank you, luv. I'm really glad you came by. :-)
