Selma Hayek

As if I didn't already think she was the most stunning woman alive, she turns out to be an earth mother as well.

]h/t to a blog that is brand-spanking-new to me: Searching for my Willoboughy. An excellent post goes along video.

  1. "Breastfeeding is a natural "safety net" against the worst effects of poverty. If the child survives the first month of life (the most dangerous period of childhood) then for the next four months or so, exclusive breastfeeding goes a long way toward canceling out the health difference between being born into poverty and being born into affluence .... It is almost as if breastfeeding takes the infant out of poverty for those first few months in order to give the child a fairer start in life and compensate for the injustice of the world into which it was born."

What else can I say? The look of utter hopelessness on the face of the woman holding the other sick child was devastating.

  2. Susan: I consider this an act of love. Selma Hayek is an actress and a sex symbol and here she shows us that she is first a woman and a mother.

I breastfed my youngest until she was almost three, could speak in complex sentences and even already could read a little. :-) Lots of people thought it was weird. I neither hid it nor advertised it. I just did what I had the right to do: feed my child in the manner of my choice and fuck 'em if they happened to know about it and didn't like it.

But I never nursed another woman's child. The opportunity never presented itself but I would've gladly if the mother or baby or both needed me to.

  4. there is such a beautiful compassion shining through her eyes here....she and the other suffering woman were connecting as women as was she as a mother....we would all do the same, is my thought, or I would like to think we would, is closer to the truth of it...perhaps that is why it is all the more special to see....

thank you for sharing this gift this day...

  5. This is a beautiful video, and her attitude and her act are as beautiful. I want to scoop up every one of those poor, sick children and hold them to my breast. It is such a basic thing to do.

  7. I'm still really smitten by this story...

It started with her great-grandmother and she's wanting to pass on the gift. Really beautiful.

  8. Really wonderful---Salma-love (and, well, Salma-lust) from JCF. ;-)

  9. Well, JCF, dear...I DO agree with you about the lust part. She is so beautiful in so many ways. Lucky Daddy!

I guess that's the woman-lovin' part of me. But there IS something about men that I just can't get enough of. I can no more help being straight than any other person can help otherwise. If that makes any sense!

Is it only me or does it seem like some of these comments come across as if they are left by brain dead folks? :-P And, if you are posting at additional social sites, I would like to keep up with everything new you have to post. Would you make a list of every one of your shared pages like your Facebook page, twitter feed, or linkedin profile?
