This is a long over-due tribute. Joni Mitchell celebrated her 65th birthday on November 7. Happy birthday to her; one of my arty-rock heroes.

And many more, Ms. Mitchell and thank you for the songs and paintings.

  3. I just recently finally got all her albums (which I still have) on CD. Her voice touches a person's soul.

  4. joni speaks to a place deep inside of me, being a bit older (and wiser) than I at that time , when her words sang from my car radio...I can't remember-tapes? albums? anyway, thank you for this and the painting of her as well! what an inspiration she is to this day...

and pagan, thank you for your very kind words on my blog today...I appreciate your seeing into my work as you do...

  6. I'm a huge fan of Joni. I was a little kid when Help Me was a hit on the radio and I loved it how quirky it sounded. No one else sounded like that at that time. When I was a teen, Hejira came out and that's when she won me over for life. I went backwards and bought
all the earlier albums. Like Dianne, I now have everything on CDs. Plus I have a few bootleg tapes and CDs that people have given me over the years. She is an amazing talent.

Susan - what were your impressions of Joni when you met her? I'm so celebrity shy that I would not have been able to approach her. I've heard she is very intimate, if she does lock eyes with you. And I love Dreamland

"Black babies covered in baking flour, the cook's got a carnival song, I'm gonna lay down someplace shady with dreamland coming on..."

    Brilliant.

  7. The odd thing about meeting her was that she approached my then 4 year old son and me as we walked along a quiet residential street in Vancouver toward a busier shopping district. She must have parked her car and caught up with us because she was eager to talk with Benj. It was much like spending a little time with any good friend.
