Sky Watch Friday & The Ramones

Click on Sky Watch to see other photo entries

I'm probably entry number 999, but here is my Sky Watch post.

(If I sound a tad like Eyeore, it's because I had a very bad day. All I wanna do is go back to Nova Scotia).

Cape Breton
Summer, 2008

These were taken at the same place and on the same day, over the course of a couple of hours.

So is it a fucking crime to rebel against being an adult at the age of 49? ;-) Work sucked today, so there ya go - The Ramones, I don't Wanna Grow Up

Love you guys!

Many thanks to Tom, Sandy, IMAC , Klaus & Ivar for hosting Skywatch Friday

  1. Those are some great shot! No, I think it's perfectly fine to rebel against being an adult. Why should we have to grow up just because of an arbitrary number? :)

  2. Nice photos. Interesting how the water changes color so much in just a few hours. I hope tomorrow is better.

  3. Sorry to hear you had a crappy day, Pagan. Lovely sky photos and the Ramones doing Tom Waits has to be pretty perfect. Is it wrong to rebel against growing up at 49? I'm only a year or so behind you and I do it all the time. We all should, from time to time. I hope I get the chance to do it at 80. I hope we all do. Have a good weekend.

  4. Hello to new passersby Gretchen and Ivar. Thank you for the nice words about my photos. And Gretchen, thanks for understanding that adult pressures can bring on moods! :-)

To my older blog friends Bear and Ed: you're both so nice to humor my mood and you do make me feel better just by stopping by the blog. Hugs.

  8. Beautiful photos. My husband's motto is "Growing OLD is mandatory. Growing UP is optional." I may have to put up with the first bit, but I refuse to take an option out on the second.

  11. I'm way older than you and we got to see the Ramones live several times - including their last tour. There were no tickets left by the time we decided to go so I won a pair by singing 'I Wanna Be Sedated' for a local radio deejay.

Nova Scotia will always welcome you back. It's kind of like the sky on a cloudy day. You know the sun is up there.

A Buddhist saying is: Pain is inevitable but suffering is optional. Interesting take on what your husband says, eh Cathy?

  13. DCup and Susan: Hey! I've missed you both - have had not enough time to leave comments over at your blogs as often as I'd like. Thank you for coming by here. Your friendship in the blog world means a lot to me. :-)

Susan & Cathy: I appreciate both takes on getting old. Both reveal solid wisdom. Susan's Budhhist sentiment adds a spiritual perspective that I can wrap my heart and soul around. Thank you both.

Gardenia: What a lovely comment. Thank you!

    Peace to all,
    Pagan

  15. Only the boring adults that have lost any sense of individuality would fail rebel as an adult. Entry numbers skywatch not important, just the peaceful scense like these.

  16. Pagan, I laughed and laughed when I got to the Ramones line about the medicine chest. Oh yeah. It's bad enough our bodies get older and we no longer look like we did in our twenties and thirties (I caught that comment about that photo and your body in your thirties...) but then we get to put up with all sorts of additional indignities that the medicine cabinet illustrates perfectly. Scary stuff. I will be 48 in December - so I know where you are, and where we're going, and how soon some of it now looks. It's enough to cause rebellion... Coloring with loud colors, finger painting, wearing silly hats, singing out loud in the street, pealing out of parking lots with loud music blaring from the open windows, buying and eating way too much candy all in one sitting... I try to leave the more obvious and banally adult forms, like marital affairs and porsches, for less original rebels.

From later posts it appears your mood improved. I hope that's so.
