Concert in the Park

After our family picnic yesterday we packed it up and went down to our town park for a benefit concert of local music. The night was hot but breezy and it was a very groovy scene. The proceeds are going to help support our local community theater, The Shea.

Headliners The Alchemystics. Excellent reggae, hip-hop and dub. Heavy grooves, great vocals, and positive messages.

Lin Preston’s Musical Time Machine
The band leader has an amazing voice reminiscent of Nick Lowe. The band sound is loud but melodic rock; all original material.
This dude has star-power. It seems he was once a rather good Elvis impersonator. The drummer is the talented Nick, Supergirl Two's boyfriend. This is a band that's going places, I think.

The lovely Alice, W.P.'s mother, diggin' the show

  1. Glad to see you had a great weekend and lovely people to spend it with. Keep up the Jah jammin.

  2. What a wonderful way to spend a weekend!

I'm happy you had such a great evening.

  4. Susan: I luvs me some Jah jammin'. My favorite music to dance to. So good for the soul.

    Sherry: t'was good, luv.

Minne: It's one of the best weekends I've had in years.

Dianne: Isn't the bandshell nice? It's only a couple of years old. Our town is really shaping up.

Alice is cool. She's incredibly well read and open-minded. At 87, she is amazing.

  5. Loved to have been there myself.

I love concerts in the park. Music on the streets. Dancing for no apparent reason. Grooving to the tune in my head.

  6. Me too, PM. And this being in town just made my world. I felt like hugging it.
