Summertime

It's sizzling. 90 degrees in the shade. Literally. W.P., Supergirl Two and I are gonna head out to go fishin' and swimmin'. Nothin' else can be done on a day like today. Summer has arrived.

My perfect summer song is Summertime by Janis Joplin. I have a brother who is five years older than I, so I grew up with a lot of rock and roll that was "before my time", so to speak. I remember thinking what passion Janis had and that there was a sadness there that fueled it but instead of making me sad, it made me want to live, love and above all else, feel. Those feelings have remained with me throughout my life. For this and so much more, I am grateful.

Namaste.

  1. EP and I did something similar and had a very relaxing afternoon.

And hey, thanks for the Janice - Yeah, she sure had the fire, didn't she?

  2. I heard that you (supergirl one) two went to the potholes to read. I read, too. Emily Dickinson poems and letters.

I'm glad you had time together.

  4. 94 yesterday in Nashville and more expected for today. Seems as if it is suddenly scorching everywhere. No where to hide...

    But's it's always 5 o'clock somewhere... Another marguerita?

  5. I hope you had a great day! It was sizzling hot here, too, so after we dropped my mother off at her house, we stopped by the beach. The sky was blue and gorgeous and then suddenly it turned ugly.

  6. 37C here Saturday, going up to 32C today -- that's hot -- it SMELLS hot, coming in the windows! I went to a street festival Saturday night, and we saw a fire-eater, who closed by juggling three machetes, blindfolded, while turning a 360-degree circle on a unicycle that was AT LEAST 10 feet high. Bliss!

Janice is fabulous -- I haven't heard this in ages -- thanks, Sphinx!

  7. Bobbie: I did. Hope you did too!

Winston: It's around 5:30. I'm ready for that second marguerita, you?

Sherry: Pittsburgh. City in this heat must be REALLY hot!

Sandpiper: How are you?! It rained overnight here but the sky was mostly blue all day. Today is even more ferocious. Or maybe it's just because it's Monday and I had to work!

Kate: The street festival sounds so, so fun! I love that stuff. watching the fire eating would have made me sweat extra!
