Mass. Governor Stands Behind Gay Daughter

Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick, wife Diane and daughter Katherine marched in Boston's Gay Pride parade on Saturday. Eighteen year old Katherine recently announced to her family that she's a lesbian. Luckily for Katherine, her family is standing proudly behind her!

Katherine's courage is commendable. As the child of a very public family, there will be a lot of attention placed upon her and much of it could be negative. That her family is supporting her so wholeheartedly makes me feel very proud to live in Massachusetts.

Katherine Patrick will be a freshman at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, a very progressive town in my beloved Happy Valley.

  6. I'm glad to hear about this. It didn't make the news in my backwards south TX city.

  8. I've always loved Deval Patrick, but this is just icing on the cake- the stories I've read about Katherine's support from her family make me tear up! My only gripe is that she is to be a Smithie... Oh, for shame! ;)

  9. Supergirl: you crack me up.

For clarification: Smith and Mount Holyoke (where SG1 is a going to be a senior) are "rival" women's schools.

  14. I'm too old.

She looks like a street walker. Why do young girls have to go around got up like SEX all the time? They are plenty alluring enough without tarting up.

Just saw a piece yesterday about young men taking Viagra... probably just to be outrageous... but I think there is really something to Naomi Wolf's theory of too much exposure to stimuli making it harder to be stimulated at all.

    I don't think it's just that I'm a fuddy-duddy.
