I have a gigantic headache from reading about the war. Death, suicide, PTSD, physical disabilities and disfigurement, brain injuries. Service men and women will be coming home, whenever they come home, to a mental health system that is inferior and already overburdened. A profit-driven medical system that will not be able to adequately address the needs of soldiers whose lives have been ruined by this needless war. I makes me so angry and despondent.
Let's try to alleviate the nation's collective headache and heartache. We need a president who will end this war. Barack Obama is our only hope. I know people have issues with him but who the hell else do we turn to who stands a chance?
I saw this at After The Bridge. Thanks, Sherry.
GI BILL 2008 Learn about it and support it. Please. It's patriotic.

I watch Keith Oberman every night so I did see this clip. Like you, I was outraged! Mental health issues have always been swept under the carpet by the Va, and given my background I have seen it time after time. It happened during the Viet Nam war also.
ReplyDeleteI also am angry most of the time but am trying to hold it together until Obama becomes president.
I originally found out about this at CBS and then again when all the fallout from their report started to be spun. I didn't think I could still be moved to tears and rage but I am.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm glad I am - I don't want to ever look away even if it makes me crazy.
I volunteer at the local VFW. The guys are all older and it kills me that no one seems to have time for them. I cook, I do some shopping, little things.
They used to call me their favorite liberal, their favorite anit-war protestor. Now they're asking me about a lot of these things. They are tired and ignored and disgusted with the lack of respect and they're starting to realize it's coming from the top - from that criminal who stole the White House.
I left a bunch of Obama t-shirts in the rec room :)
Bless you for this post.
Hi, Minne
ReplyDeleteI have never watched Oberman, as I'm not much of a TV person. But seeing this made me want to tune in. I don't even know what network. I'll have to look into it.
Thanks for stopping by. I know we both share the concern about mental health issues and services. I am always so happy to have your input.
Dianne,
ReplyDeleteHow good for you to help out at the VFW. I have time on my hands now that my girls are in college. I'd love to do something like that. Will have to look into it.
As I said about Minne stopping by - always so glad to have your input.
Peace,
Pagan
