1) Buckets of Rain - Bob Dylan
Blood on the Tracks, 1975
2) Refuse of the Roads - Joni Mitchell
Hejira, 1976
3) Back to Harlan - Kate & Anna McGarrigle
Matapedia, 1996
The first two tracks are a sampling of the music I discovered in my mid-teens.
The last track I discovered when Emmylou Harris did a cover of it on her CD Wrecking Ball (1995). The song was composed and recorder by the McGarrigles on Matapedia (1996)
It appears that I bought a lot of music in the '90s. Supergirl Two, who likes a lot of the same music as I, was just commenting on these 90's songs we used to listen to during dinner or just hanging around playing.

Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it cool that SG likes the same music :)
Hope you're having a wonderful day.
happy, happy! one of the groups my daughter loved in high school was aerosmith( i still do) but she refused to believe me when i told her that they were a few years older than me! ha!
ReplyDeleteThanks Dianne and Sherry. SG2 likes a lot of music I'm not familiar with as well, but it's nice that she likes the music she grew up with, too.
ReplyDeleteHope you had a great day.
ReplyDeleteI did enjoy this music. I love Joni.
Pretty perfect.
ReplyDeleteI think Buckets of Rain is one of the best songs ever written. Then again, Dylan has a lot of "best songs ever written", doesn't he?
ReplyDeleteThe McGarrigles! Wow! I don't expect to find them mentioned often.
ReplyDeleteI love "Swimming"
"This summer I swam in a public place
And a reservoir to boot
At the latter I was informal
At the former I wore my suit
I wore my swimming suit"
I find their faces beguiling, as well. I think there are a lot of very odd and amusing thoughts behind those faces...
Steve:
ReplyDeleteThe McGarrigles are interesting women. Whimsical and sweet. I adore the music of theirs that I'm familiar with. I don't know the song Swimming. I'll have to add it to my collection. The lyrics are lovely.
No, I don't expect to hear them mentioned much either. I don't recall who or how I was introduced to them but a few months back a dear friend of mine sent me a mix CD which included Back to Harlan and I fell back in love with their music.
I'm glad you enjoyed the song.
Peace,
