He was spot-on. Read the bio.

I agree with Steve (of course) that it is art. And he's less impulsive than I am, so he's actually thought about what the sculpture would look like in person. I immediately drew a conclusion from the photograph alone. I'm not sure that I would like it any better in person. Though I have seen some of the art I've featured here in person and didn't like it any better than the photos of it I posted. But in fairness to the artist, it's important to think about that. Thanks, Steve.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17296223961815248113noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2512858685634922680.post-76779646029137787872008-12-03T00:55:00.000-05:002008-12-03T00:55:00.000-05:00I'd say that it appears to be well executed, but w...I'd say that it appears to be well executed, but way too "cartoony" for my tastes. To me it's mostly silly. But then I look at it more closely and consider what it might mean that the sculpting itself seems to be part of what was captured - making you more than usually aware of the artist, not just the work... Statement of some sort? Could it be in some way self portraiture, or is it gently hinting that way? That elevates the interest and the art, somewhat, for me.

But I agree with most of the other commenters - I wouldn't want to live with it. I DO wish I could walk all the way around it, though - I wonder what we're missing on the other sides - and I want to better understand some of the shapes, which I suspect we can't do from this one monochromatic (how odd) photo.Steve Emeryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08628329561652344403noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2512858685634922680.post-31214448994164899822008-12-02T18:07:00.000-05:002008-12-02T18:07:00.000-05:00I looked at it and thought, "Mr. Potato Head."I looked at it and thought, "Mr. Potato Head."Kate Morningstarhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03854090450164982040noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2512858685634922680.post-614581877086460052008-12-02T18:05:00.000-05:002008-12-02T18:05:00.000-05:00no, I don't think so....no, I don't think so....L'Adelaidehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10725322054223364858noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2512858685634922680.post-92136716113957807872008-12-02T16:04:00.000-05:002008-12-02T16:04:00.000-05:00I don't like it at all: the arrangement of the obj...I don't like it at all: the arrangement of the objects, the uniform, bland birthing room color; none of it. One of my favorite pieces was a modeling clay sculpture. It was a scene with a house, a lawn, some bushes, and a tree with a house inside of it and a child's swing hanging from one of its two limbs.

There was an open door in the trunk of the tree and windows you could look through to see inside.

The tree was a uterus and the branches were the fallopian tubes.Bluebear2https://www.blogger.com/profile/14951033337358355699noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2512858685634922680.post-67697502831565400322008-12-01T23:45:00.000-05:002008-12-01T23:45:00.000-05:00Why is it blue?
